HTTPs web access can be quite interesting. If your clocks are way off , you will be flagged and prevent from accessing the site.
E.g ( google mail and Chrome-Browser )

Google chrome will warn you, but other browsers will execute in a loop and never establish the SSL handshake.
It deals primarily with SSL certificates validations and expiration. If the browser is too far ahead or behind a certification date, you can't trust the SSL connection.
